Okay folks, it only happens once a year and the Town of Matagorda is knocking it out of the park on Sat. March 11, 2017 with the 6th Annual Matagorda Seafood Festival!
Sea Food officials have you hooked up with plenty of your favorite seafood, like shrimp and oysters. In fact, for only $10, you can enjoy a delicious fried seafood plate, made of fresh Matagorda shrimp and oysters with great sides! They’ve also got plenty of fun things for the whole family, along with live music, men’s and women’s oyster eating contests with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, double elimination horseshoe tournament, also with cash prizes. There will also be plenty (50 or more) of great vendors and you can shop ‘til you drop.
There will be plenty of fun and excitement when the gates open at 10am. Kick back and enjoy some great suds at the Beer Garden and have some oysters on the half shell, shucked fresh for you all day long. Try your skill in the Washer Tournament, Men’s’ and Women’s’ Oyster Eating Contests, Horseshoe Tournament, and the Cornhole Tournament. Check out the amazing things that will be offered at both live and silent auctions, such as 1st Class fishing trips. Past items offered included a pool table and an oyster on the half shell bar and there are even more awesome items you could win in the bucket raffle. The folks at the Matagorda Seafood fest have some incredible items in store for you this year, so don’t miss out!
They’ve got wonderful live entertainment lined up for you too and you’ll be up and dancing along to some great music from 3-different bands, such as headliner Larry Joe Taylor! How cool is that? Good times will be rolling in the Town of Matagorda during Seafood fest for sure.
The Matagorda Seafood fest is a hugely fun event and it’s also one that was started for a very worthy cause. To Gina and Buddy Treybig goes all the credit for creating a successful event that puts the money raised right back into the Matagorda community. All proceeds are donated to the Matagorda School Fund which was created to benefit the educational needs of local PreK-8th grade students. Other recipients include the Matagorda VFD, Matagorda Community Latch Key Program, the Matagorda Food Pantry, Friends of the Library, Matagorda Historical Society and other local organizations. The Matagorda Seafoodfest is all about people having fun which helps those in the local community.
So if you love seafood (and who doesn’t) be sure to mark your calendar and make plans to attend the 6th Annual Matagorda Seafoodfest!
